Worcester Warehouse
Floor Resurfacing & Overlays

We provide warehouse floor resurfacing and industrial overlay systems across Worcester and the wider Worcestershire area. Existing concrete slabs in logistics, storage and manufacturing facilities are refurbished using bonded self levelling compounds, polymer modified cementitious overlays and resin finishes, specified to improve surface condition, levelness and daily performance under forklift and pallet truck traffic.

20 +

Years
Experience in Concrete Flooring

Our Worcester resurfacing work covers Worcester Six Business Park, Blackpole Trading Estates East and West, Great Western Business Park, Warndon, Shrub Hill and industrial areas alongside the A4440 Southern Link Road and M5 junctions 6 and 7. Projects range from long serving production plants and engineering workshops to modern distribution centres and last mile logistics hubs. We assess slab condition, prepare the surface mechanically and install an overlay system aligned with BS 8204, BS EN 206 and established UK industrial flooring practice.

How We Resurface Warehouse
Floors in Worcester

STEP 1

Slab Survey,
Repair and Preparation

We begin with a structured review of the existing concrete slab, identifying cracking, joint breakdown, impact damage, surface wear, contamination and any delamination or previous repairs. In Worcester this can involve modern logistics units at Worcester Six as well as older industrial buildings around Blackpole and Shrub Hill where multiple historic floor layers may be present. Defective areas are broken out and reinstated, joints are rebuilt where required and unsuitable coatings are removed. The slab is then mechanically prepared using grinding, shot blasting and diamond tooling to create a clean, profiled surface ready for a bonded warehouse floor overlay.

Overlay Application
and Level Correction

Once preparation is complete we install the specified overlay system. Options include polymer modified cementitious toppings where higher duty is required, cement based self levelling systems to improve levelness over larger bays and resin finishes where additional abrasion resistance, cleanability or chemical resistance is needed. Overlay thickness and flow are controlled to remove local undulations and refine regularity through racking aisles, pallet routes and loading zones in Worcester warehouses and industrial units at Worcester Six, Blackpole, Great Western Business Park and Warndon.

Curing, Joints
and Handover

After installation the overlay is cured in line with system guidance and the agreed programme. On appropriate schemes, fast curing materials can allow controlled early access in roughly 24 to 48 hours, with full forklift loading and dense storage introduced once strength and surface hardness targets have been reached. Movement and construction joints are recut or reinstated so the slab can move as intended and future edge damage is reduced. At handover we complete finish checks and provide maintenance and operating guidance tailored to the Worcester facility and its duty profile.

Substrate Condition
and Bond Reliability

Worcester’s industrial stock includes long established engineering and manufacturing buildings as well as newer logistics sheds, many with varied repair histories and coatings. We focus on substrate strength, moisture, contamination and surface profile so primers and bonding agents work as intended. A stable, well prepared base helps the overlay act compositely with the slab and reduces the risk of debonding or surface instability under daily forklift and pallet truck movements.

Programme Planning
for M5 and A4440 Links

Many Worcester facilities support regional flows along the M5, A38 and A4440 Southern Link Road. We plan resurfacing activity around intake and despatch schedules, trunking runs and shift patterns, using phased work zones and temporary access where required. This helps maintain throughput while allowing adequate time for surface preparation, overlay installation and curing in busy warehouses and production buildings around the city.

Service Life
and Cost Management

Full slab replacement is disruptive and capital intensive, particularly in occupied Worcester units with installed racking, process lines and services. Resurfacing retains the structural slab where it is sound and renews the wearing surface with a system suited to the site’s duty. This can extend the working life of the floor, reduce the need for reactive patch repairs and support more predictable maintenance budgets across Worcester and the wider Worcestershire area.

Warehouse Floor Resurfacing Worcester
Common Questions

Do you work in occupied warehouses at Worcester Six and Blackpole?
Yes. Most Worcester schemes are delivered while the facility remains operational. We phase resurfacing so only part of the floor is taken out of use at any one time and agree work zones, access routes and possession windows around deliveries, production schedules and shift patterns at Worcester Six, Blackpole and other estates around the city.
Is resurfacing suitable for older manufacturing buildings around Shrub Hill and Diglis?
In many cases it is. We inspect the slab, remove incompatible coatings and historic toppings, repair weak or damaged areas and mechanically prepare the concrete before installing a bonded overlay. Provided the slab and sub base are structurally sound, resurfacing can restore the wearing surface without full slab replacement in older Worcester manufacturing and warehouse buildings near Shrub Hill, Diglis and the city centre.
What types of overlay systems do you install in Worcester warehouses?
We install cement based self levelling systems, polymer modified cementitious overlays and resin finishes. System choice is based on slab condition, point loads, materials handling equipment, internal climate, cleaning regime and the level of surface regularity and finish required for the Worcester facility.
Can you improve levelness for racking aisles and narrow aisle MHE?
Yes. Self levelling and engineered topping systems can reduce local high and low spots and improve overall regularity across racking aisles, pallet routes and marshalling areas. This is particularly useful in high bay or narrow aisle warehouses at Worcester Six and larger estates along the M5 corridor where tight tolerances are required for MHE guidance systems and racking alignment checks.
How long before forklift traffic can return to a resurfaced floor?
Return to service depends on the overlay system, thickness and ambient conditions. Some fast curing products allow controlled light traffic within about 24 to 48 hours, with full forklift loading and dense storage introduced once specified strength and hardness have been achieved. We provide project specific timings so activity at the Worcester site can be planned safely around the works programme.
Are your resurfacing works aligned with UK industrial flooring standards?
Yes. Our resurfacing specifications and workmanship follow relevant UK guidance for industrial concrete floors, including BS 8204 and BS EN 206, along with good practice on surface preparation, bonding, tolerances and curing for warehouse and logistics environments in Worcester and Worcestershire more broadly.
Do you cover nearby locations such as Droitwich and other M5 corridor sites?
We work across Worcestershire and the surrounding region, including Droitwich, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and other sites along the M5 and A38. The same process of survey, preparation and overlay installation is used, with the specification tailored to the duty, layout and operational profile of each facility.
